Hard-to-Fill Positions and Referral Bonus Incentives

We are excited to announce new retention and recruitment bonuses for hard-to-fill positions, funded by the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER), to be awarded by Sept. 30, 2024. These bonuses aim to attract and retain talented professionals in key areas that are critical to our division's success hired after July 1, 2024 for the 2024-25 school year.

Hard-to-Fill Positions

Math, Science, and Special Education (SPED) Teachers:
Retention Bonus: $1,000
Recruitment Bonus: $2,000

Bus Drivers:
Retention Bonus: $1,000
Recruitment Bonus: $5,000
Bus Driver Referral Bonus: $500

We are also introducing a referral bonus for bus driver recruitment. Any ACPS employee who successfully refers a candidate for a bus driver position will receive a $500 referral incentive.

Eligibility and Awarding

Retention Bonuses: Awarded to current employees in the specified hard-to-fill positions. The bonuses are due to be paid on the September 15 paycheck or by the September 30 paycheck.

Recruitment Bonuses: Awarded to new hires hired between July 2, 2024 and September 1, 2024 in the specified hard-to-fill positions. 

Referral Bonuses: Awarded to ACPS employees within the next pay cycle upon the successful hiring of a referred bus driver candidate.
